Short answers to the questions people ask before trying Zenodot. Each answer states what the app does today, including where a feature is not available.
What does Zenodot do?
Section titled “What does Zenodot do?”Zenodot is a note-taking app for iPhone. You capture notes as they come, the Librarian — Zenodot’s AI assistant — organizes them into connected Pages, and you can chat with the Librarian about what you have saved. Every Page keeps a short history you can restore, and Zenodot Pro adds on-device dictation.
Does Zenodot organize my notes automatically?
Section titled “Does Zenodot organize my notes automatically?”Yes. When you save a note, Zenodot’s ingestion service files it into your Library and links it to related Pages. Automatic organization runs on Zenodot’s servers, so it starts once your note has uploaded.
You can turn automatic organization off for a note before saving it with the auto-ingest control in the Notes composer. The toggle is on by default, the choice travels with each note, and you can organize a note later from the note sheet.
What is the difference between Free and Pro?
Section titled “What is the difference between Free and Pro?”Both plans include capture, AI organization, chat with the Librarian, page history, and cross-device sync with a linked account. Pro adds:
- Higher library capacity.
- Higher AI usage limits.
- On-device dictation.
- Page history for 90 days instead of 24 hours.
Usage is metered over daily, weekly, and monthly windows and resets on a rolling basis. Your exact allowance and reset time are always shown in the app under Settings → Manage account → Usage.
Does Zenodot work offline?
Section titled “Does Zenodot work offline?”Partly.
- Capturing and editing notes works offline. Notes and Page edits are written to your device first and synced when you are back online.
- Chatting with the Librarian requires an internet connection.
- Automatic organization requires the network: it runs on Zenodot’s servers after your note uploads.
- Page history is fetched from the network, so restoring an older version needs a connection.
- If you restart the app with no connection, your cached Library is shown read-only until your account is re-verified. Note capture keeps working during that grace period; after a long time offline the app asks you to reconnect before showing cached data.
Can I export my notes?
Section titled “Can I export my notes?”Not from inside the app yet. You can copy individual notes, and the Pages you write are yours, but an in-app export flow is on the roadmap rather than shipped. Until it ships, email zenodotapp@gmail.com and we will provide a JSON archive of your account and Library within 30 days.
Which platforms and languages does Zenodot support?
Section titled “Which platforms and languages does Zenodot support?”Zenodot is available for iPhone on the App Store. An Android app is in development. Web and desktop apps are not released.
The app is available in English, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, and German.
Where are my notes processed?
Section titled “Where are my notes processed?”Note text, Library structure, and your Chat questions are sent to our AI provider so the Librarian can file notes and answer questions. Page embeddings are generated by the provider’s embedding model and stored in Zenodot’s database. That processing runs on Zenodot’s servers, not on your device. Reading and writing Pages directly does not invoke the model.
Dictation is different: Zenodot Pro transcribes speech on your device, and the audio is never sent to Zenodot or a third party.
Do you train models on my notes?
Section titled “Do you train models on my notes?”No. Zenodot does not use your Library content or notes to train any machine-learning model, including our own. Our AI provider processes the data transiently for each inference call, and its terms state that customer data is not used to train its foundation models. Zenodot does not opt in to any data-sharing, human-review, or model-improvement programme.
The Notes and Chat features require the AI model. If you would rather not have your note text or Chat questions processed by our AI provider, do not use those features.
Do I need an account? How does sync work?
Section titled “Do I need an account? How does sync work?”You can start as a Guest without an email address. Guest data is stored on Zenodot’s servers under an anonymous account, and Guests get the Free plan’s limits for Notes and Chat.
To use your Library on another device you need to link Apple or Google. Cross-device sync requires a linked account, which is also what makes it possible to recover your Library on a new phone. Subscriptions also require a linked account.
